Walkertown Well-Read Readers

Join us as we read a mixture of older and newer fiction titles from all genres. Maybe you didn’t get a chance to discuss an older title the first time you read it. Let’s find out if the new books are worth all the hype. This is a great opportunity to talk about books in a relaxed atmosphere. We meet the second Thursday of each month, at 6pm. –A tale of love and friendship in a Seattle Japanese internment camp during WWII. 

March 13:  Yellowface  (2023)  By R.F. Kuang 

–Darkly humorous, this novel grapples with questions of diversity, racism, and cultural appropriation, as a young author publishes a book she did not write. 

April 10:  Art of Racing in the Rain  (2008)   By Garth Stein 

–A captivating look at the wonders and absurdities of human life ... as only a dog could tell it. 

May 8:  Lady Tan’s Circle of Women  (2023) By Lisa See 

–An immersive historical novel inspired by the true story of a woman physician in 15th-century China.
